Stone Balance

I began balancing stones in 2018 as a therapeutic practice, to exercise pure, raw focus and to dissolve my distractions. The act of balance fully engages me in a raw, present moment. I a way, I feel that I become as present and still as the stones I engage with. I often try to find the most difficult balance points as a way to push myself deeper into a meditative practice of mind-body coordination.

Though the final sculptures are aesthetic art pieces that can be exhibited and photographed, this practice of balance will always fundamentally be a form of therapeutic meditation, an activity to exercise my curiosity, and a way of finding inner peace through interacting with nature.
